Human rights Day 2009embrace diversity, end discrimination

Stories about discrimination

Stories about discriminationDiscrimination is commonly defined as any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on race, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Discrimination lies at the root of many of the world’s pressing human rights issues and no country is immune from it.

The principles of equality and non-discrimination underpin International Law and the work of the UN human rights programme. This section features audio, video and written stories about people whose lives have been affected by discrimination and the work of the UN human rights office to end discrimination.
