“The way forward in the realization of the right to development:between policy and practice”

As requested by the Human Rights Council (res. 15/25) and the General Assembly (res. 65/219), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), in consultations with UN Member States and other relevant stakeholders, embarked on the programme of commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the UN Declaration on the Right to Development in 2011. Within this framework and as decided by the Council (dec. 16/117), the OHCHR organized a thematic panel during the eighteenth session of the HRC on the theme “The way forward in the realization of the right to development: between policy and practice” on 14 September 2011, Palais de Nations, Geneva.
