Promoting the Right to Development: the role of Parliament
20 October 2011, Bern, Switzerland
As part of the global commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Right to Development, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, together with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, organized an information seminar on “Promoting the Right to Development: The role of parliament” on 20 October in the margins of the 125th IPU Assembly in Bern.
The purpose of the seminar was twofold: sensitize parliamentarians to the inextricable link between human rights and development and encourage them to promote enhanced application of human rights, a prerequisite of the right to development.
