The 2008 Social Forum
The 2008 Social Forum, 1-3 September 2008, Geneva, Switzerland
As decided by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 6/13, the 2008 Social Forum focused on:
- Questions relating to the eradication of poverty in the context of human rights;
- Capturing best practices in the fight against poverty in the light of grass-roots presentations to the Social Forum;
- Social dimension of the globalization process.
Ambassador Musa Burayzat, the Permanent Representative of the Hashmite Kingdom of Jordan to the United Nations Office and other organizations in Geneva, was appointed by the President of the Human Rights Council from candidates nominated by regional groups and acted as the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the 2008 Social Forum.
The report of the Chairperson-Rapporteur on the work of the 2008 Social Forum – E F R S C A. The report contains a summary of each panel discussion, conclusions and recommendations. It was submitted for consideration by the Human Rights Council at its 10th session in March 2009.
