The 2010 Social Forum
The 2010 Social Forum took place from 4 to 6 October 2010 in accordance with paragraph 5 of Human Rights Council resolution 13/17, entitled “The Social Forum” (E F S A C R).
Her Excellency Ambassador Laura Dupuy, the Permanent Representative of Uruguay, appointed by the President of the Human Rights Council served as the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the 2010 Social Forum.
As requested by the Council in the above-mentioned resolution, the 2010 Social Forum focused on:
(a) The adverse effects of climate change on the full enjoyment of human rights, including the right to life and economic, social and cultural rights;
(b) Measures and actions to address the impact of climate change on the full enjoyment of human rights at the local, national, regional and international levels, including on most vulnerable groups, particularly women and children;
(c) International assistance and cooperation in addressing the human rights related impact of climate change.
The Council also requested the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to consult all relevant actors and to present a report (A/HRC/SF/2010/2 - E | F | R | S | C | A and Corr.1 - E | F | R | S | C | A) as a background contribution for the dialogues and debates at the 2010 Social Forum.
The Report of the Social Forum 2010, A/HRC/16/62 (E | F | R | S | C | A) and A/HRC/16/62/Corr.1 were submitted for consultation to the 16th Session of the Human Rights council (March 2011).
