India (Mahila Seva Samithi)

The grant of $2,000 helped 88 victims of child labour in India. The project was implemented in 2005.

The project

  • Distribution of study material to the children - Credit/Mahila Seva SamithiThe organization conducted a survey to identify the children in rural areas who had become victims of child labour. The organization then met with parents and children at their houses and places of work.
  • 88 victims of contemporary forms of slavery, including 48 boys and 47 girls were admitted to elementary and primary schools.
  • Study materials such as pens and paper were provided to the children.
  • Follow-up evaluations were conducted every four months to trace the progress of the victims.
