Romania (World Visions Romania)
40 Roma and Romanian children, victims of child labour, were helped with the aid of US$ 5,000.
Background of the organization:
In the last 16 years, World Vision Romania has assisted thousands of children and families through its work in the orphanages, communities, institutions, and churches.
Goals of the project:
- The project “Stop Using Roma (Gypsy) and Romanian Children for Begging” aims at reducing the number of Gypsy/Roma and Romanian children who are used for begging by their families due to poverty, to reintegrate them in the local schools and to reduce their marginalization in the Breasta community.
Main activities:
- Identification of victims with the support of the local authorities.
- Intervention plan for each child of literacy classes for Roma and Romanian children from 7 to 14 years old.
- Improvement of the children’ behaviour in relation to children and adults in school, family and community.
- Promotion of the social integration of children and families within the local community, including obtaining legal documents and social services.
