Statelessness: A Minority Issue - Eleventh Session of the Forum on Minority Issues

Dates: 29-30 November 2018

Venue: Room XVII of the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland

The Eleventh Session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues is convened on 29 and 30 November 2018 pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 6/15 of 28 September 2007 and resolution 19/23 of 23 March 2012. A Preparatory Meeting for all participants will be held on 28 November 2018  from 10 a.m. to 13:00 in Palais des Nations Room VII.

This year’s Forum is convened on the theme "Statelessness: A Minority Issue".  Statelessness is a human rights issue disproportionately affecting minorities around the world.

The Forum aims at addressing the interrelatedness and interconnection between the promotion and protection of the human rights of persons belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and statelessness.

The Forum on Minority Issues meets annually for two working days allocated to thematic discussions. Special Rapporteur on minority issues guides the work of the Forum, prepares its annual meetings and reports on the thematic recommendations of the Forum to the Human Rights Council.
