Statelessness: A Minority Issue - Eleventh Session of the Forum on Minority Issues

The Eleventh Session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues was convened on 29 and 30 November 2018 pursuant to Human Rights Council
resolution 6/15 of 28 September 2007 and
resolution 19/23 of 23 March 2012.
A Preparatory Meeting for all participants was held on
28 November 2018 from
10 a.m. to 13:00 in Palais des Nations
Room VII.
The Forum was convened on the theme
"Statelessness: A Minority Issue". Statelessness is a human rights issue disproportionately affecting minorities around the world.
The Forum aimed at addressing the interrelatedness and interconnection between the promotion and protection of the human
rights of persons belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities and statelessness.
The Forum on Minority Issues meets annually for two working days allocated to thematic discussions. Special Rapporteur on minority issues guides the work of the Forum, prepares its annual meetings and reports on the thematic
recommendations of the Forum to the Human Rights Council.
