Federico Villegas, President of the 16th cycle (2022)
Ambassador Federico Villegas has been the Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva since March 2020.
On 6 December 2021, Mr. Villegas was elected president of the Human Rights Council for 2022.
Upon his election, Mr. Villegas said he would ensure that the Human Rights Council was a “stable platform to increase dialogue and deepen understanding about commonalities and differences about human rights.” He pledged to “learn more about the multiple roles placed by civil society organizations in improving human rights at the global and national levels.”
