Expert mechanism on the rights of indigenous peoples: call for submissions
Report on Self-Determination under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
Pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 33/25, during its inter-sessional meeting in 2019, the Expert Mechanism decided to prepare a report on self-determination under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of 2007. This will be the first substantive report post 2007 on the right to self-determination.
The Expert Mechanism accepted an invitation to hold a seminar in Treaty Six Territory on 4 and 5 February 2021, for the purpose of informing this report. A draft report will be introduced by the Expert Mechanism at its annual session, due to take place from 12 to 16 July 2021, after which it will be finalised and presented to the Human Rights Council at its forty-eighth session in September 2021.
The Expert Mechanism would hereby like to call indigenous peoples, States, National Human Rights Institutions and academics to provide contributions to this study, in English, French or Spanish, in WORD format, to email@example.com, no later than 1 March 2021. Submissions should focus on the themes contained in the concept note.
