Best/Good practices in the implementation of existing laws related to the human rights of older persons
The Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Ms. Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, is mandated by the Human Rights Council Resolution 24/20 to assess the implementation of existing international instruments with regard to older persons while identifying both best practices in the implementation of existing law related to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons and gaps in the implementation of existing law.
Side-event “The human rights of older persons: best practices in the implementation of existing laws”, jointly organized by the OHCHR and the Republic of Austria, with the support of Argentina, Slovenia, as well as the NGO Committee on Ageing, Geneva, and International Longevity Centre Global Alliance. The side event took place on 15 September 2015, at the margins of the 30th session of the Human Rights Council. This side event aimed to provide a better understanding of the challenges faced by States in the implementation of existing law related to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons and to identify and share best practices and recent developments in this area. It allowed for an open dialogue with the aim of formulating concrete recommendations for an effective and integrated response at national and global level.
