Best/Good practices in the implementation of existing laws related to the human rights of older persons

The Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons, Ms. Rosa Kornfeld-Matte, is mandated by the Human Rights Council Resolution 24/20 to assess the implementation of existing international instruments with regard to older persons while identifying both best practices in the implementation of existing law related to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons and gaps in the implementation of existing law.

Age discrimination and private sector

Age discrimination is a key impediment for the enjoyment by older persons of their rights. This concerns in particular travel insurance, complementary health insurance, mortgages and loans and needs to be addressed by industry and banks.
