Call for submissions: WGEPAD 22nd session “Framework for a Declaration on the promotion and full respect of human rights of people of African descent” 19-23 March 2018, Geneva

Background

In accordance with the Human Rights Council resolution 35/30 and the General Assembly resolution 69/16 on the programme of activities for the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent, the Working Group of Experts on people of African descent, has decided to dedicate its 22nd session (19-23 March 2018) to preparing for the Intergovernmental Working Group discussion on the elaboration of a Draft Declaration on the promotion and full respect of human rights of people of African descent.

Call for inputs

As part of the preparatory work, the Working Group would appreciate receiving views from all interested stakeholders on the scope of the Declaration on the promotion and full respect of human rights of people of African descent, and in particular the key human rights and specific guarantees the draft Declaration should include. It would also be useful to receive examples of the recognition of the specific human rights of people of African descent within international, regional and national instruments, and through adjudicatory mechanisms of international, regional and national institutions.
