In joint statement the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders expresses recognition for the independent work of Poland’s Commissioner for Human Rights
On 1 March 2016, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders, together with representatives from other global and regional bodies issued a joint statement of recognition for the work of Poland’s national human rights institution, the Commissioner for Human Rights.
This statement followed a meeting held on 15 January in which Poland’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Adam Bodnar, and representatives from OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Council of Europe and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions participated.
The meeting gave explicit attention to the environment in which the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights is working in as well as the implementation of its current mandate.
