Why we mark 26 June
The UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 26 June marks the moment in 1987 when the UN Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment came into effect. Today the convention has been ratified by 163 countries.

UNVFVT Quarterly
On the occasion of 26 June, the
UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture launches its first "UNVFVT Quarterly" - a new initiative to share information with the anti-torture community, the Fund’s friends & partners, and anyone who is eager to achieve a torture-free world. It contains latest highlights, specific UN events, and stories on progress made towards the eradication of torture and the assistance to survivors.
