Human Rights Committee
2 April 2020
The Human Rights Committee has adopted its concluding observations and recommendations on the reports of Uzbekistan, Tunisia, Central African Republic and Portugal, and on the situation in Dominica, which was considered with a delegation from that country but in the absence of a report.
The concluding observations and recommendations on the five countries are available on the website of the Committee.
The Committee's one hundred and twenty-eighth session was scheduled to be held from 2 to 27 March, but because of the COVID-19 crisis, the last two weeks of the session were suspended. The Committee members continued their work, including the adoption of concluding observations, through distance working.
Also during the session, the Committee started the second reading of its draft General Comment No. 37 on article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights on the right of peaceful assembly.
All documents relating to the Committee's work, including reports submitted by States parties, can be found on the session's webpage. Public meetings of the Human Rights Committee are webcast live at http://webtv.un.org/, while meeting summaries in English and French can be accessed at the United Nations Office at Geneva's News and Media page.
