As for the origin of Tujia (Yongshun), there are different kinds of hypotheses. According to Tujia People and Tujia Language, a linguistic monograph written by Anyuan Luo, it is related to an ancient language which is called as Cong in Chinese. Most of other linguists, however, believe that it has the similar origin with Yi Language.
