Summary

The report assesses the attitudinal barriers that persons with albinism experience around the world. Research shows that prejudicial and stereotypical attitudes towards persons with albinism are prevalent and ubiquitous and have largely gone unchallenged and unrecognized. The Independent Expert sheds light on some of these attitudinal barriers in different spheres of society and their impact on the enjoyment by persons with albinism of their human rights. The Expert also makes recommendations regarding measures to be taken to tackle these barriers.
