Summary

In the present report, submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 41/17, the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, Reem Alsalem, addresses the theme of violence against indigenous women and girls. In particular, she highlights several causes, manifestations and consequences of gender-based violence against indigenous women and girls and describes good practices and challenges with regard to their access to justice, to truth and redress, and to support services, and their participation in initiatives and processes related to prevention of and protection from gender-based violence.
