Expert Seminar on legal and economic threats to the safety of journalists

Background
Human Rights Council resolution 51/9 on “The safety of journalists” requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to organize, before the fifty-fourth session of the Council, a one-day expert seminar on legal and economic threats to the safety of journalists, in consultation with all relevant stakeholders, and to prepare and present a summary report for the fifty-fifth session of the Council.
Participation
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights invites all relevant stakeholders to participate in the expert seminar, which will take place on 25 April 2023, 10:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00 in Geneva at Palais des Nation, Room XX.
In order to ensure the broadest participation of stakeholders, the expert seminar will be held in a hybrid format.
The event will have accessibility and interpretation services in all UN official languages.
The expert seminar will be broadcasted live on UN Web TV.
Registration will be open until 20 April 2023.
