On 14 November 2024, the Committee against Torture and its Secretariat, in cooperation with the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture, the Special Rapporteur on Torture, and the United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture, will organize a high-level event in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

The event will feature a series of keynote speeches, the launch of an innovative guide to reporting under the convention, and a live podcast on achieving accountability for torture crimes. Speakers will include a wide range of participants from UN anti-torture mechanisms, States parties, and civil society, including UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.
