Background
In resolution 53/15, the Human Rights Council requests the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to organize a workshop “to hold stocktaking discussions on the role of States and the private sector in preventing, addressing and mitigating the negative human rights impact of arms transfers, including the diversion of arms and unregulated or illicit arms transfers”. The discussions will inform the preparation of a report on gaps and future steps on the subject, to be presented to the Human Rights Council at its fifty-eighth session.
Intersessional workshop
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights invites all stakeholders to participate in the intersessional workshop, including States, relevant treaty bodies and mandate holders, members of academia, and civil society.
The meetings will be held online, in English, on 7 October 13:00 – 15:00 CEST, 8 October 13:00 – 15:00 CEST, and 9 October 13:00 – 15:00 CEST.
