State of play on how the world’s most influential 2000 companies perform on social issues
Co-organizers: Permanent Mission of Belgium to the United Nations, Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development, United Nations Development Programme, and World Benchmarking Alliance.
This roundtable aims to facilitate a data-driven dialogue to strengthen corporate accountability on social issues. The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) will launch its inaugural Social Benchmark, a comprehensive assessment of the 2,000 most influential companies globally, providing a holistic view of their contributions towards addressing human rights, decent work, and ethical conduct. Aligning with the HLPF 2024 theme of ‘Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises’, and ahead of the 2025 World Social Summit, the Social Benchmark aims to provide a state of play on corporate actions on the Leave No One Behind principle of the 2030 Agenda. The roundtable presents a unique opportunity to engage a diverse array of stakeholders including governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations, private sector entities, and investors on understanding the existing gaps and efforts needed to address those.
