Extension of the deadline for applications for three vacancies of mandate holders to be appointed at the 54th session
For the following mandates only, the application process opened on 1 May and closed on 22 June 2023 (12 noon Geneva time). APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED FOR:
- Special Rapporteur on the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy (Hansen’s disease) and their family members
- Working Group on discrimination against women and girls, member from Eastern European States
- Working Group on the use of mercenaries as a means of violating human rights and impeding the exercise of the right of peoples to self-determination, member from Eastern European States

Should the appointee to any of the mandates be a person with a disability, the United Nations would be obliged to ensure reasonable accommodation for the mandate holder in the implementation of his/her mandate. This may include provisions for the mandate holder to be accompanied during official travels by a personal assistant, and/or for additional conference services (such as sign language interpretation) in respect of meetings in which the mandate holder participates.
