BACKGROUND

Chamling is one of the sub-caste groups of the indigenous Rai community. Chamling Rais are mainly inhabitants of Khotang district and are also partly found in Udayapur and Bhojpur districts. Similarly, a huge population of Chamling Rais is also in Sikkim, Darjeling and Siligudi of India. Chamling language belongs to the Tibeto-Burman languages.
