UN Committee on Migrant Workers to review Benin, Egypt, Peru and Seychelles

GENEVA (29 November 2024) - The UN Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (CMW) will hold its latest session from 2 to 13 December, during which it will review Benin, Egypt, Peru and Seychelles.

The four countries are among the 60 States parties to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families. They are required to undergo regular reviews by the Committee of 14 independent international experts on how they are implementing the Convention.

The Committee, which has received respective country reports as well as submissions from national human rights institutions and non-governmental organisations, will discuss a range of issues in public dialogues with the four State delegations on the following dates at Geneva time:

Benin
2 December 15:00 - 18:00
3 December 10:00 - 13:00

Egypt
3 December 15:00 - 18:00
4 December 10:00 - 13:00

Peru
4 December 15:00 - 18:00
5 December 10:00 - 13:00

Seychelles
5 December 15:00 - 18:00
6 December 10:00 - 13:00

The above public dialogues will be held in the First Floor Conference Room, Palais Wilson, Geneva. All public meetings are open to the accredited press and livecast on UN Web TV. Background
The Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families monitors States parties' adherence to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, which to date has 60 States parties. The Committee is made up of 14 members who are independent human rights experts drawn from around the world, who serve in their personal capacity and not as representatives of States parties.
