Background

The Special Rapporteur’s interim report on the right to development was presented at the 42nd session of the Human Rights Council in September 2019.

Summary

In this report, the Special Rapporteur presents guidelines and recommendations on the practical implementation of the right to development arising from the regional consultations on that topic held in 2018 and 2019.

Particular attention is placed on meaningful participation in setting development priorities and enjoying development benefits, methods of mobilising resources for development that are inclusive and sustainable, monitoring and evaluation of development policies, and measures for accountability when rights are infringed.
